Watercolor

My approach to watercolor involves deliberate and patient layering, executed with strokes that range from very active to finely controlled. Multiple applications of transparent watercolor serve to convey light-filled and darkly accented scenes of nature as captured drama.  The paints I use range from Winsor & Newton to Daniel Smith watercolors; the surfaces are almost all Arches cold-pressed paper, typically 300 lb. or 140 lb.  I find that those papers stand up very well to the repeated wettings of paint laid layer upon layer upon them.

If you are interested in any of the paintings represented on this site, or wish to inquire about or discuss a commission, please click the Contact link above and submit your query.  Available paintings can be supplied promptly; the timing on commissions completions is dependent upon schedules and other factors, but I will work to meet your timetable.
